I FEEL THAT RICHMOND RANDY JUST DOES NOT GET IT AND NEVER WILL.THIS DUDE OBVIOUSLY CANNOT JUDGE TALENT EVEN A LITTLE BIT. GET RID OF LARRY CAMPBELL? BRO WHO WOULD YOU RATHER SEE UP THERE? LARRY HAS MORE CHOPS THAN ANY OTHER 5 PEOPLE YOU MIGHT THINK OF.JACKIE GREENE YEAH HE IS YOUNG BUT BOY CAN HE PLAY. AGAIN WHO WOULD YOU WANT IN PHIL'S BAND INSTEAD OF THESE CAT'S? IT SEEMS DYLAN HAD LARRY IN HIS BAND FOR 10 YEARS BUT REALLY WHAT DOES DYLAN KNOW. LEVON HAS LARRY IN HIS BAND BUT REALLY WHAT WOULD LEVON KNOW ABOUT TALENT.PHIL CALL'S LARRY THE ''MASTER'' BUT WHAT DOES PHIL KNOW? DO YA SEE THE PATTERN JACKASS,IF YA DO NOT THAN YOU ARE AS SHALLOW AND CLUELESS AS YOUR STATEMENTS.GET A GRIP YOU SIMPLE F//CK.

Subject: Best of 2008
I saw 14 shows in 08 and this was the best. Inspired setlist, awesome performance. I liked the Q, but I prefer Larry over Jimmy.

phil loves NY and NY loves phil. this recording sounds great but the music is amature at best. maybe one of the best i painfully witnessed with this lineup.
for anyone who was introduced to phil by this lineup, i'm sure this show is "amazing" but for people like me who are partial to the PLQ, this is a few steps down (like a whole flight or steps) and really not very inspiring.
no real magic happens here exceppt for a few moments in sugaree and stephen. the rest is forgetable. do your self a favor and go listen to 7/26/01 or any show from that tour or any show between 2000 & 2003 and see what phil really sounds like with the pro's.

WOW!!!

Great recording of a fantastic show..

Thanks Joe for all your hard work.

Rest up for the 2008 Nokia run in NYC.
Your recordings of the 2007 shows from there are just about soundboard quality, wonderful.

Thanks again
da

Subject: Some Concerns
I felt the setlist was far stronger than the show. The Sugaree was the highpoint for me. The first set seemed unsure and sluggish until the end of UJB Sugar Mag, which is where it should have started. Chinacat didn't develop much. Fire sounds better on recording than it did at the venue. And when they rocked hard, it was almost too hard---whiffs of Freebird in the I Know You Rider and the Wheel. The Eleven went on forever without much going on. Born Cross Eyed stumbles uncomfortably throughout.

I liked the West Virginia show's focus much better, from start to finish.

I really appreciate the upload. A dull Phil show is still better than 90% of the other jamband music out there. I'm aware that a lot of Phil/Dead's magic is being in THE moment, not just your own, so perhaps I simply wasn't on the bus at Jones Beach this time. Looking forward to the Vibes.

Subject: AMAZING!!!
Playin>Bird Song opener was just like jumping out of the gate into a second set. It felt a little shaky at first like they were figuring out how to get it together, almost like it was too deep too fast. From UJB on they were completely dialed, as evidenced by the Sugar Mags culmination... but the real magic tonight was the second set. This SUGAREE is FANTASTIC -- Jackie Greene really blew us all away, it was so much fun to see him wailing and getting up in all the band members' faces on stage, just totally shredding. I had no idea how they could follow that and we were totally surprised (elated) by the perfect St. Stephen segue... pure bliss... everything after that was just absolutely pure bliss. It was such a gorgeous night and there was nobody there in the upper deck, just lots of sky, stars and ocean, the summer triangle splayed out overhead and Phil looking right at the almost-full moon behind the crowd as he launched Dark Star. I cannot convey how awesome this show was in words although I am trying.
The Nassau County cops have nothing better to do than shut down vending, but I have to admit that I like the dry venue. Less drunkeness gave the total vibe a more genuinely psychedelic clarity... even the beach club day-trippers looked bug-eyed. Thanks Phil!

Subject: WHAT A NIGHT
WHAT AN AWSOME DAY AT THE BEACH THEN THIS KICK-BUTT SHOW ON TOP OF IT. PHIL AND THE BOYS TOOK US UP AND DOWN THE MUSICAL WAVES JUST LIKE THE ATLANTIC DID THAT AFTERNOON. I'M MORE IMPRESSED WITH JACKIE GRRENE EVERY TIME I SEE HIM HE REALLY PUSHED THEM ALL INTO OVERDRIVE IN MY OPINION THAT NIGHT. IT WAS NICE TO HEAR TERESA WILLIAMS ALSO VERY NICE VOICE. WE ALL LOOKED AT EACH OTHER AT THE END OF THE SHOW AND SAID WOW!! THANKS BOYS

Subject: WOW WOW AND WOW! SHAKEN DEM BONES, BLOWN AWAY!
1ST OF ALL I THINK MOLITZ MIGHT BE AN ALIEN! IT SEEMS NOT HUMANLY POSSIBLE TO DO WHAT HE WAS DOING DURING THE UNBROKEN CHAIN.and oh yeah not to mention what Molitz does following ST STEPHEN! HOLY MACARONI! I NOTICED THAT JACKIE GREEN WAS ALSO PLAYING A SET OF KEYS DURING MOST OF THE ALIEN LIKE JAM IN THE MIDDLE OF UBC. THE WHOLE SHOW WAS FILLED WITH ENERGY AND BEAUTY. SUGAREE WAS SOOO SWEET AND BEAUTIFUL, PHIL WAS PHILLING THE AIR WITH A GREAT SOUNDING VOICE AND JACKIE GREEN WAS DANCING AROUND AND WAVING HIS GUITAR LIKE A MANIAC ON STAGE. I LOVE THIS BAND! IF YOU WERE NOT THERE U NEED TO LISTEN TO THIS AND IF YOU WERE THERE YOU WERE PROBABLY CHECKING EVERY DAY SINCE YOU GOT HOME TO SEE IF IT WAS HERE SO THAT WE COULD HEAR IT ALL OVER AGAIN. I WAS SHAKIN MY BONES BUT SOMETIMES I CAUGHT MYSELF JUST STANDING OR SITTING THERE IN DISBELIEF OF WHAT I WAS HEARING AND OBSERVING. I HOPE I CAN MAKE IT TO THE NOKIA THEATRE IN NOVEMBER, CAUSE THEY WILL ONLY GET BETTER LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN EACH AND EVERY SHOW SINCE THESE GUYS HAVE BEEN TOGETHER.I COULD COMMENT ON THE MOUTAINS OF THE MOON AND THE WHEEL AND THE SMOOTHNESS AND PERFECTNESS OF THE SINGING OF ATTICS AND ON AND ON BUT I SHOULD LEAVE SOME ROOM PHOR SOME OTHER FOLKS TO COMMMENT! ROCK N ROLL!THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT THE LETTERS PH THAT JUST SEEM TO DO IT PHOR ME EVERY TIME! PHIL AND PHISH! PHIL AND PHRIENDS IS EVERYTHING I COULD EVER WANT IN A BAND.. PHUNK,ALIEN LIKE KEYS, GROOVE BLUES AND ROCK N ROLL AND A PUTOUT OF THE MOST POSITIVE ENERGY ANYONE COULD ASK PHOR! THANKS PHIL PHOR THE SOUND THAT WE HAVE BEEN SEARCHING PHOR.AND THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THIS EXCELLENT MUSIC UP HERE ON ARCHIVE. LAUGH LIVE LUV AND LEARN! JEPH JEPHREEZ

Subject: what is wrong with long islanders??
this show was awesome from start to finish..and i rode the energy from the night before in rochester right to jones beach that night/morning. this venue continues to deteriorate year by year. it is the only place i consistently hear the crowd over the band's music. its sad....sketchy law enforcement making people take down ez ups tons of people selling bunk shit

real laid back first set really collaborated with the scenery. the second set was just a huge china>rider sandwich that oozed killer versions of every song.

apparently people like to be able to buy beer at shows and boycott if they can't.

I loved the extra dancing room!

Musical Orgasm = the 2nd set.

Phil's band ROCKS. and Jackie Green is amazing.
